Kids say the darndest things!

The kids have been cracking us up lately.  Let's start w/ my little Gregor Samsa, Arlo.  A few nights ago, he got out of bed around 10, puttered into our bedroom.  He sometimes does this and says he needs to pee or needs water.  However, instead, he asked "Mom, am I real?".  I didn't quite respond right away, and then he asked "Is everything real?"  "Is something real?".  I think I said, yes, you are real sweetie, go back to bed.  Then, a couple of mornings later, he told me he had a dream about my dream.  He said he was dreaming that I was dreaming about two grasshoppers, a good grasshopper and a bad grasshopper.  He said he was riding the bad grasshopper and was on his team.  I asked him what I was doing in my dream inside his dream.  He said, "You weren't doing anything mommy, you were sleeping!  It was your dream!".

Then yesterday, Noah took Ez to his violin lesson.  After finishing up twinkle twinkle or maybe after up pony down pony, Ezra said something like:  "I know where planets come from.  They come from dust.  The dust swirls up, then gravity pulls more dust together, and then the dust becomes planets.  Then god makes a baby that lives on the planet.  Then the babies make more babies.  Actually, I don't know if I believe in God, but maybe I do.  I am not sure."  This must be a product of having one atheist scientist father, one agnostic evolution-loving mother, and a jewish private school education...

Cancun!

We just got back from a 6-day trip to Cancun, where we stayed in an all-inclusive, kid-friendly resort right on the beach.  It was a great time!  Mostly, we spent the days in the pool, on waterslides, on the beach playing in the waves.  One day, we took a trip to the Mayan ruins at Tulum and stopped along the way to swim in a cenote and at Akumal beach where we swam with sea turtles and a couple of manta rays.

Tahoe

We had a great time heading up to Tahoe with our friends Debbie, Andrew, Jacob, and Peter in June.  We took the lifts for some great hiking, went to the pool, the kids tried and Ezra enjoyed sushi for the first time, and Rach/Ez tried rollerskating.  Rach enjoyed.  Ezra skated in place and then enjoyed ice cream.

County Fair

We chatted up storm troopers, rode lots of fun rides, got taken in by a carnie at tubs o fun, watched some hog racing, looked at weird looking turkeys, and lived it up at the County Fair!
