The boys

I really wasn't expecting the boys to get along so well so fast! It's amazing -- even though Arlo is not even one, they love and enjoy each other so much. It is the sweetest thing to witness. They like to wrestle and shake heads together and laugh. Arlo understands things like yes, no, and goodbye. Anytime somebody puts shoes on these days, he starts waving his hand in the air and saying "bahbah". He calls his brother "Edda" and says mama and dada a lot. He is such a jolly little fellow! Ezra has been really fun too. A few snippets of recent conversation. First, the other night I took him to see a kids' production of Aladdin, which he really liked. On our way home, I told him he could share my last piece of birthday cake when we got home. Unfortunately, when we got home, we quickly realized that Noah had sneakily devoured the last piece after putting Arlo to bed. Ezra had a major meltdown, yelling "Daddy, that was not your cake to eat -- that was mommys!" A few minutes of tears and yelling later, he exclaimed "How do we get the cake out of your belly? We need to get the cake out of your belly!" He was still making similar inquiries an hour later while we were reading bedtime books. Also, the other day, I was explaining to him the difference between "person" and "people." I told him that he and I together were people, but that he alone was a person. "No," he said. "I'm not a person. I'm a grandson." His voice getting louder and louder. After I said daddy was a person, he yelled "No, he's not a person, he's a father, and you know that!!"
